Essert Romand
A peaceful village, Essert Romand, one of the first associated with the much sought after Morzine-Avoriaz ski resorts is only 5km from Morzine and les Gets, 30 minutes drive from Thonon-les-bains and 75 minutes from Geneva. Once an old farming community, it was built on a wide mountain plateau in the Haute Savoie region.
Not only is it situated in the centre of a range of dramatic and beautiful scenery, there are stunning views down the Montriond valley toward Chatel and the Swiss boarder.
There is a Pizza Hut for simple take away available on the side of the main Essert Romand road as well as La Petit Auberge – a true Alpine restaurant and bar famous locally for the quality of its simple food.
Winter: The closest resorts are Ardent and Pleney which give you access to the massive Portes du Soleil area. There is a shuttle bus dropping off at Morzine, Les Gets and Avoriaz for EUR1 per person per way regardless to which resort you get off at.
Summer: The area boasts over 200km of treks and walks ranging from simple one hour strolls along the river dranse to 6 hour treks around Roc d’Enfer - ‘Hell’s Rock’. These paths take you through the Vallee d’Aulps via mountain tops, alpine pastures, lakes, local villages and abounding flora and fauna.
